Toning Up: Toners for the Dry Skin
What is a toner?
Toners is something that you use after you cleanse your skin, to get rid of the dirt that has remained after the day is over. It also helps remove makeup after you cleanse your skin. I used to use toners as my mom had one, we could find all the dirt and pollution on the piece of cotton going through that procedure. It was quite true that the toner was a useful piece of skincare. However, it should fit your skin: do you have oily/dry/mixed type of skin? It matters a lot. If you have sensitive skin, you should use a very very very natural toner. Even cucumber juice would be fine. Something with less alcohol for sure would be the best for sensitive skin. The more natural ingredients there are, the better it is...
A benefit of the toner is that it minimises your skin pores, so that is great news. It cleanses, that is good news, too. It kind of prepares your skin for the moisturiser, so it is a part of the beauty and skincare routine.
Rose Water of Missha: Meditanical Rose Toner
It does not dry the skin, it has a very slight smell of roses. It is natural, it is good looking, it is good price for the amount. I suggest it and appreciate it a lot. (a big bottle is 35 USD)
Rose Water of Gulsha
One of the best rose waters, it is a bit expensive but it is all natural. It is in a glass bottle if you do not want to use plastic, so that is good news. It is not a big amount for the bottle but it goes up to two-three months if you do not use it very often. I suggest it, it was good and natural and it felt very kind on the skin. You can also see the story of Gülşah here. The roses are from Isparta, Turkey. Isparta name comes from Sparta... (200 ml is 25 euros)
This toner has a very delicious smell. It does not contain too much unnatural ingredients. I like how it was convenient in regard to price, I have been using it for a while. It does not dry the skin and it softens the skin. Happy with it and suggest it! (200 ml is 14.95 Euros)
This toner is the one that seems to be jumping out of a clinic! However, the size of this Bioderma big plastic bottle if huge (14.90 USD). And moreover, it is hydrating, it is cleansing. It does not smell anything natural for sure but I think that it is okay for the dry skin. It has hydrated my skin so far. About the pores, I am not sure, if it was helpful or not. That is dependent on how much we sleep and how much we drink water and stay away from the sun, too. So I cannot measure all the factors' influences on the end result.
Caudalie Hydrating Toner: Lozione Tonica Idratante
Oh, this is a light and a delicate toner. It smells lightly like the grapes, and it is very soft and delicate on the skin. Never ever dries the skin and cleans it well. I like this product. If you want to use a non-conventional toner that is good to your skin, this can be your best friend. (400 ml is 22.20 euros)
I have written before that this was a very good product. I was happy with it, I find it a bit expensive for the amount it has (100 ml is 15 USD). And it is for sure in plastic again like most of the products except Gulshah, however, it is worth trying and if you like it you can continue to use it for sure. It is a well advertised and money-deserving product. However, if there are alternatives that are cheaper you might also consider getting them.
This is a brand that I discovered in Amazon. It smells heavily like roses. It is a big bottle and for what it is the price is quite good (12.90 Euro). I really like this one, too. It refreshes the skin and it kind of softens and tightens the skin. Again it is in plastic, so that is the bad thing about all these products that we are using. I hope that one day they decide to produce these toners bottling them in the glass bottles... Yeah, I was saying that Alteya organics is good, I would use other products from this brand, too.
This is a great toner and micellar water. It does not dry the skin, kind to the skin and it smells like coconuts. What else would you like? (The price seem to be for 230 ml 9 USD)
I have written about this toner that I prepared myself at home, too, one of the best toners is cucumber juice and that's it! If you add a bit of honey to that, that is more than wonderful. But believe me cucumber juice is the solution to many problems your skin has, it also smells much better than unnatural stuff, you can package it and use it as you wish. It is cheap and it is so good! Why not! Try it and tell me if you do not like it. I do not think you will regret that you have chosen a homemade remedy.
In short
The best prices are: Yes to Coconuts, Alteya and Caudalie.
The most delicate ones are in this order: 1) Gulsha, 2) Caudalie, 3) Missha Rose Toner, 4) Pixie, 5) Yes to Coconuts, 6) Yves Rocher, 7) Bioderma
The ones that I like the most: All of them but I am really proud of Gulsha and Yes to Coconuts. I am also proud of Alteya and Missha. I am critical of the price of Pixie. And the smell of Yves Rocher is nice but not my favourite.
