Skin care routine from professional brands and from youtubers
How do we do our skincare? What is the order of things? Which products shall we use? How often should we do skincare? These are all questions that are answered a bit vaguely. However, I made the research for you and here are the results.
MY SKINCARE
I just want to insert here my skincare and what I do. So the first and the last rule is not to overload your skin with too many products and too many applications... It is enough that you do two or three steps (cleanser, facial mist or toner and hydrating cream for eyes and the face) but could care to use good products (definition of good products: what helps your skin rather than how much it costs or how much advertisement is made about this product). However, now I will describe the situation in which I use more than three steps...
So if I wash my face, first I use the cleanser of Lancome Miel en mousse. I have to say that I suggest this product before, but this product by itself, without some hydration can still cause dryness on the skin although it is very much designed for sensitive skin and I prefer it to many other cleansers. So generally, when I am taking shower, I wash my face with this Miel and Mousse and then I use the scrub of Yes to Coconut (which is absolutely one of the best scrubs I have ever tried). It has the smell of coconut, cacao, and milk. I love it so much. Then I use either Pixie Rose Tonic or Lumene Arctic Hydrating Mist or Re-fresh from Clarins. I wait one minute or so, after this application. Then I mix my Vitamin C that has anti-aging qualities with my hydrating cream which is currently either Kiko Magic Holiday cream with shea butter (limited edition, so I think they do not have it anymore) or I mix it with Clarins hydra-essential sample I have. Then that's it! My skin is hydrated for almost 20 hours after this treatment.
Normally I do this treatment once or twice a week. Not every day. But it is true that I use the tonic or hydrating mist and the cream every day OR OR OR I use the cleanser and moisturizing cream every day, so it is a two or three-step care in a usual workday.
SKINCARE AND DELUSIONS
First of all, I found this video totally helpful. I think everyone should see it in order to understand that not everybody can have a similar skincare routine and not all the brands are telling the truth about what they will do to your skin. I totally agree with the fact that you do not want to transform your skin totally.
YOUTUBERS AND BRANDS
Now I will talk about the skincare rituals that I like from YouTubers, a brand that I like (Clarins) and vloggers.
CLARINS SKINCARE (WITHOUT ANY MAKEUP BEING INVOLVED)
CLIO MAKEUP SKINCARE
If you look at Caudalie's website, the beauty routine is made of cleansing and hydrating. So they give these three steps with these three products: Micellar Water, Serum, and the Cream Sorbet. You can see the details on the Caudalie website. Famous Italian beauty and makeup expert Cliomakeup suggests also Jowae. She does the same: cleanse the makeup, hydrate with a tonic or mist or both, and then apply your hydrating cream with a serum or with a supporting beauty booster. Please see her video here:
KOREAN WAY OF SKINCARE
The most well-known of all is the Korean skincare, well, it is for sure their skin that is wonderful. Let's see what they really do to their skin. There is a video here which suggests these steps as she defines her morning skincare steps:
1) Cleans the skin
2) Uses a tonic
3) Essence: She says in the video that was made in 2017 that she uses Essence and it is hard to find that in Italy. This is a different step from the previous ones explained. The essence might be like a serum.
4) Cream for the eyes (hydration)
5) Cream for the face (hydration)
6) Sunscreen
An addition that she makes to the skincare routine is the massage: she does something like facial yoga and she says that it definitely works as it increases the circulation of blood for the face.
MERVE OZKAYNAK SKINCARE
From my favorite Turkish Youtuber, there is a skincare routine she had done many years ago. I somehow love her previous videos more than the professional action ones. I used to watch her videos before going to sleep cause it calmed me down. The news was so depressing that I was watching youtube tutorials on doing makeup. Finally, I would fall asleep, not because they were not interesting, but they were calming... She uses these brands: Bioderma sensibio foaming gel, Moshos garden soothing toner, NovAge Ecollagen Eye cream, Lamer the renewal oil, the Body Shop drops of youth sleeping mask, Bepanthol lip cream, and Moshos Garden Clay Mask Amber Rose. In my opinion, she uses too many products, but she does use good products like Lamer, Bepanthol, Moshos, Bioderma, Bodyshop drops of youth...
She suggests that when you do your skincare, you should massage slowly without pulling your skin here and there, not to cause irritation on your skin. She has this soft soothing voice and in fact, she became really well-known in Turkey as a YouTuber. I do love her skincare ritual with natural products really so much more than this one below. I learned a lot from her in terms of using natural products at home so I am really satisfied with both of these videos: skincare with cosmetics and natural products. Later on, she made another video on professional skincare at home, however, I find it TOO MUCH for dry skin.
GIGI HADID
And of course one of the most beautiful women of our times, Gigi Hadid gave this supernatural interview and I adored her. She says that she does not like facial and she does not like to wear makeup everyday. You know what, she is right, I loved how natural she looks in this video and how honest she is about what she does and she does not. She says even if you do not put anything on, you can just put on your moisturizer or just a lipstick, and I agree with her.
VOGUE AND CAMILLE ROWE
Last but not least, one of the most interesting videos ever on skincare is definitely this one from Vogue: she uses so many products, I do not know if Camille Rowe knows what she is doing but she is so beautiful that you start asking yourself, does she need all these products? The final minutes are the best as she really does a very very natural makeup. The reason I put this video is to show you that even if we do not know what we are doing, we should take care of our skin somehow with some reliable products. She gives very useful information in this video between the lines: eating too much sugar causes problems on the skin and moreover, she gives ultra importance to sunscreen as she is scared to have skin problems. She also uses products of the brands that support women who have cancer, which is also very socially responsible. However, the way that she treats her skin is a bit rough as you can see from the video: cause she pulls and pushes too much. Despite all this, her skin looks fabulous at the end of the treatment. So she does these step by step, too many steps, and too many products again for my taste:
1) Cleanser
2) Eye masks
3) Lip scrub
4) Takes a vitamin for herself
5) She does massage to her skin
5) She puts eye cream and moisturizer
The rest is a bit irrelevant to the skincare, although you might find it interesting. Here is the video below.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
As it is seen it is not easy to take care of the skin, it takes a lot of time and money and effort. So if you do it every day I hope that it makes a difference, but I would suggest not applying this thing every day to your skin. Imagine your skin as soil, if you work on the soil all the time you will not get the best results. Sometimes you need to leave the land to fallow for a while. Why do I say that? If you give too much water to a flower, it will die. If you show too much attention, your attention will lose its meaning. If you do too much of something, you will need to step back. Hence, the same with the skincare, there will be days you do makeup and there will be days you do not. There will be days you will do the whole care and there will be days you will just moisturize your skin. You should not tire yourself nor your skin just to be a perfect beauty, the beauty lies in the balance and knowing when to stop and when to do more.
