Palettes: which colours are your favourites?

Is there a need to have so many palettes? Definitely not. I will introduce you a few palettes as a result of years of experience. Well, I do not use the eye shadow every day but I like to have a good palette and do a light makeup. Many years ago my cousin told me how to do it: to do the seven at the edge of the eye when using the eyeshadows. This information has been quite useful. I suggest these two videos for learning eye makeup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6SQjrxRG2c from Cliomakeup and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3wNnH1NHA8 from Merve Özkaynak.

Cutting the long story short, today I will talk about seven brands (Kiko, Clinique, Lancome, Diego Dalla Palma, Mac, Too Faced and Inglot) and six palettes (2 from Kiko, one from Lancome, one from Clinique, one from Diego Dalla Palma and one from Too Faced), four single eyeshadows (Three from Kiko, one from Mac ) and one which you can combine yourself (Inglot). I hope that it will be a useful one for you before you make decisions about which palette you would like to buy.

I will give very detailed information on each of them and show you with photos of how they look on my skin. So please be ready for a looooong blog post.

Let's start with KIKO's smart palette. The one I have is the mat one, not the shiny one. This palette has quite a large colour range. It has some kind of nudes, but not so much. Basically, it has a base colour that is beige and then there is a salmon-ish pink, and a vintage orange. I used these three a lot, for a makeup that looks light but still charming this combination was really great. If you use these three colours (beige, salmon and vintage orange) you can have a nude lipstick or orange one to go with these colours. Another great colour in this palette is the brown, it is a warm brown that can be used together with beige and salmon-ish pink. Some of the colours here are too dark for me: purple, brown, blue... But the greens are perfect, I used them from time to time. Even the shocking pink looks nice, when used modestly.

What I like about this palette is not only that the colours are not conservative but also that it has a mirror inside, quite a big one, so that is practical. Then the price is not so high, that is a good thing. Last but not least, it can be used for everyday makeup as well as evening makeup. Only disadvantage of this palette is that unless you use a primer for the eyes, it kind of goes away easily, well, you might not like that.

In the photo, it seems like grey is grey but it is not grey, it is darker than grey. Then the purple on the top right looks lighter but actually, it is a bit darker than the photo shows.

So that is one!

The second palette I want to introduce is more of a shiny one: Clinique limited edition all about shadow palette. This one was something I bought when I was at the airport. It has limited colour options: whites, greens, purples and grey. However, the colours are chosen wisely. Cause grey and white (champagne) give the neutrality, whilst the greens and purples are the soft coloured variables. So I really think that despite being small, it is a useful palette.

It was hard to find this one online, as the limited edition might be out of stock. However, I have to say that I was very happy with the green tones in this palette, they are delicate and they are good for daily use as well as evening use.

The third palette is Too faced: Tickled peach. This one has peach bum, peach swear, warm and fuzzy, love pit, Parisian peach, peach spice, tickled and plum fun. It smells like peaches, that is true, but the smell is not heavy at all. I used this palette a lot, for a while, and also used it to others when I did makeup to others for special events. The colour that I found difficult was peachy swear, it is a kind of orange-like red but still, I found it difficult to use for daily makeup. And even for special occasions, it was hard to use this one as it is reddish and if not used carefully your eyes can look tired etc. However, in general, was very happy with this palette, does not itch the eyes, it does not disturb the eyes, it has high pigmentation. It is mostly for orange colours so it might not go with all the lipsticks except brown, orange, nude and red-dish colours.
Tickled peach has colours from this palette, it is a much smaller version with less dark colours.

I have seen the too faced, tickled peach in another name in Sephora. Mine looked more like shake your palm palms eye palette:
You can find this one in Sephora in the small products' boxes... where the prices are lower and you can get a taste of everything if you want small samples
The fourth one is Kiko Green me eyeshadow palette, Feisty Saffron.  This one is something that I bought in the last summer, and it has nude tones, easy to use. When the cult and vintage Kiko palette was expiring, I thought that this would have been a great replacement, although it does not have these beautiful greens that the other Kiko (the one above) has. However, all the cult colours are here: for instance, it has three types of bronzes. The only thing I could not get used to in this palette is the smell, it smells a bit like butter or some kind of natural unnatural smell. Other than that it is practical, the great palette for those who do not want to travel with big bags full of makeup stuff, it is small and it has all the necessary colours for good and fun makeup.

The fifth one is Diego Dalla Palma Nude Eyeshadow palette. I had this as a present and was very happy with it. It took me one year to start using it, cause I did not want to use it just like that. With 2020, I started using it. Today I had a makeup with this eyeshadow palette and observed my experience...

To be continued ...
