How to organise the nail polish in Marie Kondo style

As we all know Marie Kondo did it and we loved her! She organised everything so well. She was the middle child and was kind of on her own most of the time. So she started organising her room, then her friends' room and now she is organising the world.

One of her tips is that you bring everything that you have from one category together: all clothes, all books, all cosmetics for instance. So before the organisation, there is some chaos... I have taken all my nail polishes and organised them. I will show this procedure to you via photos... and if you would like I can also share the colours of the products and how they look on my hands. My hands are not the most beautiful but you will have to bear with me!

So the first situation is as such. I am alone with all the nail polish that I will never be able to finish all my life. Longing for the fact that my sister would be with me, to finish things would have been easier. Well, that is just a detail before I tell you how disorganised I am in life. And in organising my cosmetics, I have reached the utmost level of organisation. Everyone knows their place; the problem is that sometimes they get mixed and misunderstood...

So, first of all, I wanted to organise them according to the seasons; Vivaldi style, spring-summer-autumn-winter. That is how I did it, yes, and then I had to exclude some of them as I was not sure if they were summer or winter because they had basically bright colours but they were green or blue. So the things really got complicated. That is how I did it though.

The first photo shows how they are and how many they are but does not say so much about the taste of the owner. It just says I am a consumerist with serious serial buying problems.

The second is how I organised it. Marie Kondo says, it should have its logic and the ones in the same group, naturally, should have similarities. Colours can be guiding as well for autumn colours and summer colours are quite differently coded in our heads.

this is how I categorised them

Then I have separated them as such:

  • Blues, greens and purples
  • Nudes
  • All the season-ones such as red, Bordeaux
  • The take-care-of your nail ones and coats
  • Pinkish ones for the summer
  • Christmas-ish ones
So I had one of these things of Ikea a friend of mine, thankfully, left me, please see it below.

So yes, in the end, I do not have much space so had to compromise, have put the nudes with the greens and purples as I thought I can use them now! Then I put the summerish ones in a small compartment. The rest such as Christmas-ish ones with the red(s) which I think go well together.

Well, I guess it is always dependent on if you can find them when you want to...

You have seen many different nail polishes here, from Pupa to Kiko, from Kiko to Channel, and from Channel to Flormar, from Flormar to Pastel, from Pastel to Bottega Verde, and from Bottega Verde to Royal Beauty, from Royal Beauty to Yves Rocher, from Yves Rocher to Maybelline... from Deborah to OPI and from OPI tooooooooooooo Bodyshop and Clinique...

I will tell you how they look, will show you in fact. And will make nice combinations for four seasons: summer, spring, winter and autumn.

I give you a tip, Pupa is much better than you think, and OPI is one of the best, Channel is good as well, whilst some Bodyshop colours are really stunning!

Okey enough for today! Goodday, good night, and good afternoon!
