The other four perfumes (as promised): Clinique, Dolce and Gabbana, Elizabeth Arden and Caudalie
As I have agreed before I am going to evaluate these smells:
- Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Scent Spray
- Caudalie - Fleur de Vigne
- Clinique Aromatics in Black
- Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Sun
The reason that I am so late with the evaluation is that I am very sensitive to the perfumes if I smell too many in one day, I might get nausea too easily... So that is why I am late... I apologise for not having kept the exact promise.
I will start with the Caudalie Acqua Fresca Fleur de Vigne: this one was 25 or 24 euros when I bought it last summer. And it is quite a small one, with 50 ml. I used it every day in the summer and also in the autumn. Finally, I finished really quickly. I also have to admit that some part of it got poured in my bag, but not too much, just a couple of uses were gone. This is the only smell that does not bother the people around me even if I use it in abundance. It is also the smell that never gives me a headache or never disturbs me later in the day, as I am also a very weird type of person. So it has three layers (I do the direct translation from the website of Caudalie):
fleur de vigne Caudalie |
- top notes: bergamot, mandarin and grapefruit
- heart of the notes (middle notes): white rose and melons (flowers of life)
- deep (base) notes: cedar and sandal
I will not hide my feelings about this perfume, that is more economical than others, but that is not as permanent as Channel and so on: I LOVE IT! I also suggest it to anyone who likes fresh smells, who likes bergamot, grapefruit with some cedar and sandal... I could not smell the white rose but it seems that it is quite a subtle smell compared to red and pink roses. I suggest it one hundred per cent. Everyone should give it a try at once, then it has other choices if these are not the best notes for you.
Let us continue with Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Scent Spray, which is also amongst the economic perfumes and fresh smells. It smells of Green Tea absolutely. But what is more to add to that?
- top notes: bergamot, caraway, fruity rhubarb, lemon and orange zest
- heart of the notes (middle notes): green tea, cool minty peppermint, sweet jasmine, spicy carnation, fresh fennel, crispy celery spice
- deep (base) notes: amber, oakmoss, musk
So it has many smells inside, I did not know that it was so complicated honestly. Now that I am writing these words, I decided to smell the perfume once more. All I can say is that I love this perfume, not more than others though, not more than Chanel or Fleur de Vigne of Caudalie, but I love it differently. I think that this smell is unique, its green tea appeal is utmost. Moreover, this smell is good for spring, summer and even for winter... Maybe for autumn I would not imagine using it so much, please do not ask me why, as I also do not know. One thing that bothers me about this smell is that it is green tea but then there is one ingredient, that kind of sticks out, and comes forth... I still could not figure out what it is, but I do not want the top notes to be dominated by the other notes somehow... I am not an expert so it is all I can say. If you like green tea and mint and look for something fresh Elizabeth Arden Green Tea might be the right perfume for you.
It apparently also won an award in 2011 in New Zealand |
Let us continue with Aromatics in Black... for this one, I will direct you to my blog writing on it... I have not much to say on this perfume, I like using it but I would only use it in the winter, cause for me this smell is a bit of evening-ish and a bit heavy... Honestly do not know which of these notes below is the most incompatible with me, I should write to you more clearly about how these notes are and how they go with each other, doing another test on each smell (like only on neroli, only on jasmine etc.). For now, for Aromatics in Black of Clinique, here are the top, middle and base notes:
top notes: plum leaf accord, pink grapefruit and bergamot.
middle notes: osmanthus, jasmine and neroli.
base notes: myrrh, vetiver and tonka beans.
The fourth and the last one is Dolce Gabbana Light Blue Sun. This perfume is given four over five and I agree with that. First of all, I thought that I had fallen in love with this perfume but it was just a crush. As I learnt this perfume was launched in 2019. In fact, I got to know it in the summer (last summer). So I thought I found a wonderful perfume, I like it and use it a lot, but the floral-fresh balance for me is not good enough. Still, I would give 8 over 10 to this perfume, too. Just to give you some more information it says that the deep, middle and top notes are as such:
Top notes: lemon, granny smith apple, ozonic notes and coconut nectar
middle notes: jasmine, white rose and frangipani
base notes: ambergris, bourbon vanilla, cedar and white musk.
So this perfume is also okay, I like it, but I would again underline that I would not be able to use it every day, and I would not be able to use it every season. I know it is for the summer... however, perfumes are nicer if we can use them all the time, every day, as we like them and we miss them. Maybe my expectations from a perfume are too much, as my expectations from life are...
Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Sun 2019 |
These are the evaluations so far... I hope that you enjoyed reading it. Please let me know what you think and how you evaluate your perfumes... what is the most interesting thing for you in perfume? Have you used different perfumes like me in the past and now you use a couple of perfumes like I do, depending on your mood?
I think that from now on I will stick with one perfume. Cause it is too much for me to finish and it is too much for me to handle, as I am super sensitive to the smells.
Finally, I have understood that cedar, bergamot, jasmine, lemon and citron, grapefruit (maybe even more specifically pink grapefruit), mandarin, oranges and orange flowers are my favourite ingredients in perfume. Like the good mixture of floral and fresh leaning more towards the fresh side. If it is too flower-ish I feel like a carnivorous that eats flowers. Jokes aside, it is a personal taste!
